A little over a year ago, my wife and I moved to Panama. We came for the reasons a lot of people do — a stable country, a warmer climate, a slower pace of life — and the quiet hope of trading the rush for something calmer. Like most people, I did it the hard way: piecing the process together from scattered forums, half-right blog posts, and advice that was often out of date by the time I found it.
The visa maze, the banking wall, the small details no one warns you about — I ran into all of them. One thing that stuck with me: back home, a house is listed by a single realtor — so finding the same home here advertised by three or four of them, often at three or four different prices, took me by surprise. I got there in the end, with help from people I trust on the ground, but it took far more time and second-guessing than it should have.
So I built Path to Panama — and Río, the assistant at its heart — to be the guide I wish I’d had.
