Privacy Policy — Path to Panama

Last updated: June 23, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Path to Panama ("Path to Panama," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal information when you use our website at pathtopanama.com, our AI relocation assistant ("Río"), our membership service, and our browser extension (together, the "Service").

Path to Panama is operated by 2717161 Alberta Inc., a corporation registered in Alberta, Canada, doing business as "Path to Panama." By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account or register for a membership, we collect your name, email address, and login credentials. Passwords are stored in hashed form and are never visible to us.

Payment information. Membership payments are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card number or security code on our servers. Stripe processes your payment details under its own privacy policy. We retain limited billing records (subscription status, the last four digits of your card, and transaction history) to manage your account.

Content you provide. To deliver the Service, we collect and store the information you share with Río, including:

  • Messages and questions you send in chat;
  • Documents, PDFs, and photos you upload for translation or explanation;
  • Property listings you save, and the budgets, trips, plans, and notes you create;
  • Profile details about your relocation (such as target arrival date or preferences).

Browser extension. The Path to Panama Property Saver extension lets you save property listings from any website by clicking a toolbar button. When you click Save, it reads the URL and page title of the active tab and sends the URL to pathtopanama.com, where we fetch the listing page to extract property details (title, price, location, images, description) and run an AI analysis. The extension does not collect browsing history, does not monitor pages you do not explicitly save, and stores no separate credentials — it uses your existing logged-in session on pathtopanama.com.

Usage and device data. Like most websites, we automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and timestamps. We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Service is used.

How we use your information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service and your account;
  • To generate AI responses, translations, and document explanations through Río;
  • To save and display your listings, budgets, trips, plans, and documents;
  • To process payments and manage your membership;
  • To respond to your questions and provide support;
  • To improve and develop the Service;
  • To protect the security of the Service and prevent fraud or abuse;
  • To comply with legal obligations.

AI processing and service providers

To deliver the Service we share certain information with trusted providers who process it on our behalf, sharing only what each needs to perform its function:

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — powers Río's chat responses, translations, and document explanations; receives your chat messages and any documents or photos you submit.
  • Pinecone — knowledge-base search that helps Río answer accurately; receives search queries derived from your questions.
  • Serper — web search fallback when knowledge-base results are sparse; receives search queries derived from your questions.
  • Google (Maps / Places / Photos) — maps, place details, and location photos; receives place names and location queries.
  • Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing; receives your payment and billing details.
  • Our web host — hosts the website and stores your account data securely.

When your content is processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) through its API, that content is not used to train AI models. Each provider handles your information under its own privacy and security commitments.

Affiliate links and bookings

Path to Panama and Río may include links to third-party travel and booking sites (for example, flight search via Aviasales and hotels via Booking.com). If you follow those links and complete a purchase, we may receive a referral commission from the partner. This does not change the price you pay. We do not sell tickets or reservations ourselves — partners handle booking, payment, and customer service.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only: with the service providers above, to operate the Service; with a partner you ask us to refer you to (such as an immigration firm or real estate contact), and only with your consent; to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request; to protect the rights, property, or safety of Path to Panama, our users, or the public; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.

Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to request a copy of your data. To exercise these rights, email hello@pathtopanama.com; we will respond within the time required by law. You can also delete most saved content (listings, budgets, documents) directly in your account. These rights are provided under applicable laws including Canada's PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, and the California CCPA, where they apply to you.

Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International data transfers

Path to Panama operates from Canada, and our service providers may process your data in Canada, the United States, and other countries that may have different data-protection laws than your own.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
